A Healthy Smile is Valuable
Healthy, attractive smiles can be had by people in all walks of life, whether they be rich or poor, highly educated or not. Pleasant smiles are seen in people who think well of themselves and appreciate the important role that their smile plays in their lives. They know that a healthy smile helps build relationships and opportunities.
Healthy smiles are not expensive; dental disease is expensive. It is also avoidable. Health is peculiar, in that the rich cannot buy it, nor can the poor have it given to them. We must give it to ourselves.
Give Yourself a Healthy Smile
We appreciate this opportunity to share essential facts on health-oriented children’s dental care. Dental repairs begin to make people healthy. Once dental repairs are completed, the teeth can stay healthy. Children and their parents can know how decay and gum disease are controlled so that future dental repairs are avoided. Our mission is to help you and your child have the care, knowledge, attitude and skills to give your child a healthy, pleasant smile.
Healthy Smile Visit
You, your child and/or a caregiver will take part in an important conversation about how to control decay and gum disease. Together with us, you will select solutions for specific dental problems that will work for your child at home. Your child will receive a booklet, a toothbrush, floss, and other home dental care supplies.
Preventive Re-care Visits
At each re-care visit, your child’s teeth are carefully evaluated for decay and crowding, and the teeth are thoroughly cleaned. A fluoride treatment is applied, since in-office fluoride applications every six months can reduce decay by 35 percent. Sealants, which are plastic coatings that protect teeth from decay, are recommended for the 6-year and 12-year molars as soon as they come in. Re-care visits reduce dental costs and protect your child’s current and future dental health. In fact, the thoughtful use of fluorides and sealants can reduce tooth decay by as much as 95 percent.
Rewards for You and Your Child
When your child returns for re-care visits with no decay, no germs on the teeth, and pink, healthy gums that do not bleed when they are brushed and flossed, points are awarded for healthy gums and teeth. After nine points have been earned, your child is rewarded with a T-shirt or gift certificate.
Lifelong Dental Health
Your child may live beyond 75 years, and that’s a long time to need healthy teeth. If you keep working with your child at home and with us at re-care visits, your child can have a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Great Expectations
Everyone can have a healthy smile. For different reasons, some have to work harder. Health is worth the investment and effort. The real beauty of the Healthy Smiles Plan, both the office and home-based parts, is you can expect lower dental bills and a healthy smile in the future. These are results of consistent efforts.
We are looking forward to your Healthy Smile.
